Yandex Maps and Navigator Add Real-Time Fuel Availability and Queue Data Plus Fuel-Efficient Routing Options

Yandex has updated its Maps and Navigator services with new tools designed to help drivers locate gas stations that have fuel in stock and shorter queues. The information appears directly inside the station card, where users can also build a route immediately.

The same real-time fuel availability and queue data have been added to the Yandex Go and Zapravki applications. The feature is already active in Moscow, Saint Petersburg, and 14 additional large cities such as Kazan, Yekaterinburg, Krasnodar, Novosibirsk, Samara, and Chelyabinsk.

Yandex collects the data from several independent sources. These include anonymized records of fuel orders, information provided by taxi drivers through the Yandex Pro platform, and current traffic conditions around each station. Drivers who have recently refueled or simply driven past a station may also receive a short survey to contribute additional details.

A second major addition is the introduction of economical route options. Maps and Navigator can now suggest paths that help vehicles consume less fuel by maintaining smoother speeds and avoiding unnecessary stops at traffic lights. Such routes may not always be the fastest, yet they can prove more cost-effective for drivers concerned about fuel usage and time spent waiting in lines.

The company notes that the new functions are available only in areas where sufficient volumes of regular and accurate data can be obtained. In other cities the features will be enabled gradually as more information is collected.
