Russian Users Report Widespread App Store Outages as Roskomnadzor Denies Any Role in Restricting Access
Russian users began experiencing technical problems with the App Store starting early in the day, prompting hundreds of complaints across the country. The independent monitoring service Sboy.rf recorded a total of 251 reports concerning instability and failed downloads within the first hours of the outage.
Geographic distribution of the complaints showed that the largest share came from Moscow, which accounted for 20 percent of all reports. Saint Petersburg followed with 13 percent, while the regions of Udmurtia, Kursk, Rostov, Bryansk oblasts and Stavropol Krai each contributed approximately 5 percent of the total complaints.
Users described a range of issues affecting both the App Store application itself and the ability to download games and other software. In many cases the download button remained visible, yet actual downloads would either fail or succeed only intermittently depending on the attempt.
Following the surge in reports, Roskomnadzor promptly issued a short official statement declaring that the agency is not restricting access to the App Store. The statement read simply: “Roskomnadzor does not limit access to App Store.”
The root cause of the disruptions has not yet been identified. Apple has not issued any public comment on the situation. Observers note that the incident cannot be described as a large-scale outage, given that only several hundred reports have been filed and many users continue to experience normal service.
Until more information becomes available, affected users are advised to check their internet connection, restart the App Store application, and wait for the issue to resolve on its own.
