Russian Backup Market Hits 10.6 Billion Rubles as Domestic Solutions Reach 70% Share
The Russian market for backup and data protection solutions continued its rapid expansion in 2025, reaching 10.6 billion rubles and growing 18.5% year-over-year. This growth rate exceeded the overall Russian infrastructure software market, which expanded by 16% to 158 billion rubles.
According to research by Strategy Partners, the share of domestic solutions in the backup segment rose sharply from 19% in 2021 to 70% in 2025. Analysts project that this share will reach 92% by 2030, with the segment itself more than doubling to 24 billion rubles at a compound annual growth rate of 17%.
Cyberprotect with its Cyber Backup product retains the leading position in the segment. The company estimates the total market size at around 12 billion rubles and claims a 56% share for itself. Another notable Russian solution highlighted by analysts is RuBackup from Astra Group.
Market competition is increasingly focused on integration rather than standalone features. Customers now prioritize solutions that work seamlessly with Russian virtualization platforms, databases, Kubernetes environments, storage systems, and monitoring tools.
The study also notes continued growth in the software-hardware complex segment, which Strategy Partners expects to increase from 116 billion rubles in 2025 to 249 billion rubles by 2030.
